A Visit to the BrickArk Museum

Two weeks ago we took a family trip to the BrickArk (LEGO and other bricks) museum in Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan. The museum layout design consists of a walk through brick history, in my view extremely valuable and well worth the approximately thirty minutes or NT$200 entry price (for adults or children 90 centimeter or taller).

We see a brick set from Hilary Page’s Kiddicraft Self-Locking Building Bricks, an original design for children’s bricks before LEGO was LEGO.

Vermeer’s Lady in Blue Head-dress, 2950 pieces.

Several famous works of art, from Vermeer to da Vinci, are reproduced in LEGO and other bricks pixelated detail.

Most of the works are labeled with the number of pieces necessary to assemble the art replica. What isn’t as clear, and is information that I would think valuable, is the total number of hours spent putting together each art work.

Is Brick anatomy different from ours? Would you put on a pair of bricks?

The museum visit ends with a hands-on experience for children and adults alike. We put together a cardboard brick box that can be stacked one on top of another, and inside the box is a choose your own color brick keychain.
